The Boat Company in PetaPixel’s “No Guarantees” – A Tongass Tale of Fly Fishing and Fatherhood

A Documentary Born on Our Waters

Chris Niccolls aboard The Boat Company’s M/V Liseron

We’re honored to announce that The Boat Company is a star in PetaPixel’s upcoming documentary No Guarantees, filmed aboard our M/V Liseron in the Tongass National Forest. Renowned photographer Chris Niccolls, known for his Fujifilm reviews and fly fishing passion, chose our intimate eco-cruise as the backdrop for this introspective film exploring the uncertainties of fly fishing, photography, and fatherhood.

Capturing the Tongass’s Soul

Shot with the Fujifilm GFX ETERNA 55, the documentary weaves Chris’s childhood fishing memories with his role as a father, set against the Tongass’s misty fjords and salmon runs. Our small ships—hosting just 20–24 guests in 10–12 cabins—provided the perfect stage for daily excursions: skiff tours to bear sightings, fly fishing in crystal streams, and glacier hikes that reveal the rainforest’s quiet power. As the world’s only nonprofit cruise line, TBC’s mission to protect this 16.7 million-acre temperate rainforest shines through, from the crew’s conservation talks to the unspoiled views that inspire every guest.

A Partnership for the Wild

Collaborating with PetaPixel and Fujifilm, No Guarantees (coming early 2026) highlights how our cruises blend adventure with stewardship. Chris’s journey—from casting lines in rugged terrain to reflecting on legacy—mirrors our 46-year commitment to the Tongass, especially amid the Roadless Rule repeal threat. Watch the trailer below and dive into the behind-the-scenes magic to see how it all came together!

Why This Matters to Us

At TBC, every cruise is a bridge to conservation, and No Guarantees embodies that spirit. From bear sightings to salmon runs, the Tongass inspires not just awe but action—especially now, with the Roadless Rule repeal under public comment until September 19, 2025.
