Ask a Guest Coordinator: Your Questions, Answered
From the moment you book a trip with The Boat Company, a lot of excitement starts to build — and so do the questions.
What should I pack?
What will the days really look like?
How do activities work on a small ship?
How does my trip support the Tongass?
That’s where our Guest Coordinators come in.
On each of our small ships — M/V Liseron and M/V Mist Cove — a dedicated Guest Coordinator is onboard to help shape each guest’s experience, day by day. With just 20–24 guests aboard, this role is deeply personal: listening to what you’re most excited about, helping you choose what you’d like to do that day, and handling the logistics that make it all flow smoothly.
Whether one morning you’re hoping to kayak quiet coves, another day to go fly fishing, hike through the Tongass, or spend time wildlife viewing from a skiff, your Guest Coordinator helps make it happen — coordinating timing, gear, group sizes, and schedules so each day reflects your interests and energy.
Meet Margo, Guest Coordinator aboard M/V Liseron
In the video above, Margo Finch — one of our Guest Coordinators — invites you into her role onboard and asks for your questions. You can watch the video here and join the conversation below.
As departure dates approach, she often hears the same themes from guests:
What should I wear and pack?
What will fishing excursions be like?
How do daily activity choices work?
How does this trip support conservation in the Tongass National Forest?
This season, we’re inviting you to ask them all.
We’re gathering questions from guests and followers now, and Margo will be filming a follow-up video answering as many as she can — clearly, thoughtfully, and from firsthand experience onboard.
Ask away — and share if you’ve been here before
If you’re preparing for an upcoming trip, we invite you to send in what you’re most curious about. No question is too small — and your input helps us focus on what matters most as you get ready for your journey.
If you’ve already traveled with us, we’d love to hear from you too. Feel free to share:
A favorite memory
One item you were especially glad you packed
Something you wish you’d brought
Or simply how much you miss Southeast Alaska
You can reply directly, leave a comment on social media (direct links to all of our profiles below!), or reach out however feels easiest. We’ll be collecting your questions and stories and sharing answers in an upcoming video.
Our 2026 cruising season runs from May 9 through September 5, and we’re looking forward to welcoming both returning and first-time guests aboard for another summer of exploration, connection, and care for this remarkable place.
